1 Why Make a Tee Time, Anyway?

A tee time (short for “Tee Off Time”) is a reserved window that guarantees your group a spot on the course. Think of it like a train schedule—every departure is precisely timed to keep everything moving safely and smoothly.

At Crestview Golf Club of Kalamazoo, we run on eight-minute intervals, starting at 7 a.m.

  • 7 a.m.
  • 7:08 a.m.
  • 7:16 a.m.
  • 7:24 a.m…. and so on throughout the day.

Because our schedule moves in these specific increments, asking for an “8 a.m.” slot means you might be offered 7:56 a.m. or 8:04 a.m.

These precise windows don’t just secure your spot—they allow our team to properly schedule course maintenance, manage staff, and ensure everyone enjoys a steady pace without backed-up fairways.

2. The Golden Rule: “Tee Time” Means “Tee-Off Time”

One of the biggest misunderstandings in golf is treating a tee time like a loose reservation or arrival suggestion.

A 9 a.m. tee time means your driver is making contact with the ball at 9 a.m. sharp.

Pulling into the parking lot at your exact tee time means your group—and every single group playing behind you—will be delayed.

How to Plan Your Arrival:

  • 0 Minutes Prior: If you are late for your tee time and the tee times behind you are booked and in attendance, you may be asked to wait.
  • 15 Minutes Prior: The bare minimum time needed to check in at the clubhouse, load your cart, and head to the first tee.
  • 30-plus Minutes Prior: Ideal if you want to hit a few warmup shots, practice your putting, or stock up on snacks and drinks at the clubhouse.

What if you’re running late?

Life happens! If you know you’re running behind, call the Proshop as soon as possible. If we know ahead of time, we can often bump an early group ahead of you and shift your slot down so you don’t miss out on playing entirely.

3. Why Am I Paired Up? (The Power of Four)

Golf courses naturally run on groups of four. During peak hours—like clear weekend mornings—we fill every open slot so as many golfers as possible can get out on the course.

  • Fewer than four players? Expect to be paired with other golfers during peak times.
  • Pace of Play: Full, balanced groups help maintain a smooth, steady flow for the entire course.
  • Want a guaranteed solo or private group? The easiest way to avoid playing with strangers is to bring a full group of four players when you book.
  • You will be paired with other players if fewer players than reserved show up. You also may be responsible for green fees or cart fees if you double your reservation to assure private play.

4. How to Reserve Your Spot at Crestview Golf Club of Kalamazoo

Booking your tee time in advance is the single best way to ensure you get to play when you want.

Booking Options:

Tee Times may be made at least 7-days in advance.

  • Online (Preferred): Visit bit.ly/BookNowCrestviewKalamazoo to book up to seven days in advance.
  • By Phone or In Person: Give us a call at 269-349-1111, or visit the Proshop.
  • Single golfers must call the Proshop to book a tee time, as our online booking system requires groups of two or more to complete.

Note: When browsing online, a tee time marked “available” might only have one or two open slots remaining in an existing group. Always double-check the player count before completing your booking.
